A specialist in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy and in Food Science, from 1976 he worked at Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico in Milan in ward-based clinical work, clinical and research gastroenterology, and diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.

From 1996 he set up and developed the Endoscopy Service of the Policlinico’s Geriatrics Department, dedicated to older and frail patients, with experience in colonic polypectomy and transnasal gastroscopy without sedation. He taught as adjunct professor and tutor at the Specialisation Schools in Gastroenterology and Geriatrics.

He also practises privately at the La Madonnina and Columbus clinics in Milan.
