Director of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at IRCCS Istituto Clinico Humanitas and, since 2015, full professor of Gastroenterology at Humanitas University. He is scientific director of Humanitas Istituto Clinico Catanese and coordinates gastroenterology across the group’s hospitals.

He trained at the University of Turin and in Paris, Hamburg and Toronto, and has been visiting professor at Georgetown University in Washington and at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.

His work covers diseases of the digestive system and diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, with a particular focus on gastrointestinal cancers. He is associate editor of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
